Madras Medical College's library situated on the first floor of the main building, covering a total area of 4005 square meters. The library boasts various reading halls, including an inside reading hall accommodating 250 students, a dedicated book reading hall with a capacity for 250 students, a staff reading hall for 50 individuals, and a post-graduate reading hall capable of hosting 50 students. Additionally, there is a journal room and a video room for diverse academic needs.
The annual budget allocation for book and journal purchases is approximately 1-1.5 crores. The library houses a comprehensive collection of 127,499 books spanning all medical disciplines, with 83,315 categorized as textbooks and 44,184 as reference books.
In 2024, the library subscribed to 54 Indian and 47 foreign journals. The collection also includes journals with back volumes, featuring 1,133 Indian journals and 25,542 foreign journals. The E-Library, equipped with 50 computers and internet facilities, offers access to 240+ E-Journals and 75+ Ebooks provided by the National Medical Library of India. The library is equipped with WiFi to facilitate access to e-journals and e-books within its halls
Central Library operates from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on regular days, the library also opens on the second Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This extended availability enhances accessibility for the students and staff.
