Critical care Medicine in Prestigious Madras Medical College and Hospital

They have started to function after inauguration by honourable chief minister on 14 th April 2022. It has budded as a separate super speciality department from 2022 with an annual academic intake of 2 DM critical care medicine candidates . The CCM unit has 47 electronic beds with safety and tilting facilities for utmost patient comfort and safety with almost all the equipments available in any private sector. All the beds are equipped with updated Ventilators and high end multi paramonitors for monitoring arterial pressures, CVP, ICP to continuously monitor fragile critically ill patients. Furthermore high end USG , Bronchoscopy machines are available separately in our wards used to diagnose and treat immediately at bedside. We admit medical, surgical, obstetric patients , post-operative adult and paediatric patients. We have nurse call alarm system to attend to the immediate needs for fragile critically ill patients. We are equipped and trained for initiating Life sustaining support such as ECMO , CRRT etc. We also have DVT pumps for prevention of Venous thromboembolism and physiotherapy equipments for early mobilization and rehabilitation. There is a separate counseling area to explain and update the condition of the critically ill patients.We also cater Rehabilitation and review Out patient services for the patients recovered and discharged after the ICU stay. Since the inception we have treated many critically ill patients. We have a dedicated faculty of doctors and enough staffs to achive our goals. We strive meticulously to execute sterility and cleanliness to avoid cross infection and sepsis inside our premises.
